Wealth Wasted on You

James is chastising the wealthy of the land. It is difficult to imagine that this letter is written to the Christian church because it contains such harsh rebukes. In this episode we look at what James has to say about wealth then, and what eternal truths we can apply to our lives in Dallas today. Wealth stored up or spent flippantly is wealth wasted.

Open Mic, part 1

Your tongue has a history longer than your lifespan. It goes back thousands of years ago to the garden of good and evil. It was there that it was changed forever, tempted by Satan himself and distorted. However, Jesus came to rescue us from the shortcomings of our tongue, and give life to what we say.

Costumes vs. New Creation

People often put on masks to impress others or hide things. Everyone has their favorite costume. Costumes are difficult to maintain and often come with negative consequences. A person who has become a new creation in Christ has no need for costumes.

Your Agenda vs God's Agenda

James says it is arrogant to presume upon the future. Doing so assumes some control on our part. He points out that a right perspective comes from understanding that God is the One in control and that He has things prepared for us to take part in. In all things we should acknowledge God so that we have a right perspective in this life; knowing we were created by God, for God.

Warriors and Their Arrows: Caring Both for Children in Our Families and Those with Childlike Faith

Psalm 127 likens children to arrows in a warrior's quiver. Handled correctly, they can be a source of life and joy and bring glory to God. How are we doing as parents - and more importantly as God's kingdom of priests - at investing in this resource? Are we shepherding our children, both those in our homes and those in our community, in a way that will be a blessing to this generation and those to come?

Why not consider a type of renewal that never fades and has everlasting value?Everyone could use some heart renewal. Ask we begin a new school year, ask yourself where your heart needs to be renewed by God.
